Description
An exterior shot of one of the vertical lancet windows at the Mary, Mother of Priests Chapel (part of the Servants of the Paraclete complex) in Jemez Springs, New Mexico.
The window features a series of symbolic maritime motifs rendered in faceted glass:
The Lighthouse: At the top, a structure resembles a lighthouse, symbolizing guidance and safety.
The Star: In the center, a prominent yellow glass star represents the "Star of the Sea."
The Vessel: Below the star, a depiction of a boat or ship navigated through blue and white "waves" of glass.
The Inscription: At the very base, text is integrated into the glass blocks, reading "STAR OF THE SEA."
The Exterior Finish: The window is set deep into a thick, cream-colored stucco wall, showing how the dark mortar matrix of the Dalle de Verre technique creates a high-contrast mosaic even when viewed from the outside in natural daylight.
