Description
A vertical view of another Dalle de Verre lancet window on the exterior of the Mary, Mother of Priests Chapel in Jemez Springs, New Mexico.
The image highlights:
Iconographic Symbols: This window features a stack of sacred symbols rendered in dark glass, including:
A Crown at the top.
A Monstrance or Ciborium containing a host with the IHS christogram.
A Cross radiating light or power.
The base of a tower, referencing the "Tower of David" (a traditional title of Mary from the Litany of Loreto).
The Inscription: Though partially obscured by the foreground shrubbery, the base of the window contains text identifying the symbol, consistent with the other windows in the series.
Architectural Details: The narrow window is set into the expansive, smooth white stucco wall. Two dark wooden vigas (ceiling beams) project from the top of the wall, emphasizing the Southwest-Modernist fusion.
Natural Framing: A firethorn bush (Pyracantha) with dense orange berries frames the lower third of the window, adding a pop of natural color that complements the desert landscape.
