Description
A full vertical view of one of the narrow "dalle de verre" (faceted glass) windows that lined the nave of the chapel. These windows were designed to provide rhythmic vertical bands of light and color, each carrying specific liturgical or symbolic messages.
The image features:
* Symbolism and Text: The bottom section of the window contains the glass-inlaid text "MOTHER OF MOTHERS," a title honoring the Virgin Mary. Above the text, stylized floral or leaf-like patterns in green and white rise upward, culminating in a golden, crown-like or radiant floral motif at the top.
* Dalle de Verre Technique: The window is composed of thick, hand-cut slabs of glass set into an opaque matrix. The irregular shapes and faceted edges of the glass create a mosaic effect, designed to refract light with high intensity and brilliance.
* Color Palette: The design utilizes a vibrant combination of royal blue, emerald green, and golden yellow, accented by smaller fragments of red and white. These jewel-toned colors pop against the dark structural lines of the window.
* Architectural Context: The long, slender proportions of the window are typical of Mid-Century Modern chapel design, emphasizing the verticality of the space while set into a neutral-toned plaster wall.
